Photographer's Note

A view looking across Old Portsmouth towards the dockyard. The building in the distance is the Semaphore Tower a series of towers that linked Portsmouth Dockyard with London. In 1913 Semaphore Tower was destroyed by fire. It was rebuilt to it's present structure incorporating the resited Lion Gate, (one of the old entrances to the dockyard).
The two pubs at the end of the road are the 'Still and West' and the 'Spice Island Inn'.
Both pubs have great courtyards outside that leave you a few feet from huge ferries and warships as they enter the harbour.
Taken with the sun very low, just before dusk.

nice shot with sun colors reflects, very warm ambiance ; good use of zoom lens and composition ; perhaps needs a little clearness. Well done Michaeël !
I like real ale, hope it is possible to drink it in their super pubs !

This photo really makes me feel like visiting these pubs and then take a walk in the area... Wonderful view, great colors. Very well captured and described.

Great reflections, and good framing. I like the golden colors that seem to reflect from a glass building.

Superb lighting, with lovely shadows and reflections. The colours are very nice and gives me the feeling of a lazy hot summer evening. I stayed in Portsmouth for about a week in the summer of 1987, but - as far as I can remember - it was raining almost every day. Your picture is much better!
