Photographer's Note

Man with an interesting face, London.

Not really sure if this kind of shot is appropriate for TE, but I see plenty of tightly-framed portraits here all the time, so I thought what the hell...
I also thought it would make a change to see a portrait that was shot here in the UK - we don't see many of those on TE!

Been digging through my archives (disorganised chaotic boxes of negatives and slides - I need to sort it out one of these days!). I was lucky with the light here, which has brought out the stubble and the textures of his skin - perfect light for male portraits. For photographing women though it's not so good - you'd end up revealing every flaw and wrinkle, which isn't the best idea if you're trying to flatter your subject!
I took this shot ten years ago, so I can't remember his name or anything - I think he was a student. I remember that he showed me some great black and white photographs that he'd taken in Tibet.
