Photographer's Note

"Chahar shanbe Souri" is a night before the last Wednesday of Pesian year. It is an ancient symbolic tradition in which Iranians do some fire plays. This tradition, alike Norouz, dates from Pre-Islamic times.

The last Wednesday of the year is celebrated by the Iranian people as Chahar Shanbe Soori (CharShanbe Soori), when people go into the streets and alleys, make fires, and jump over them while singing the traditional song "Zardie man az tou Sorkhie tou az man" (literally: I give you my yellow, you give me your red (the color of the fire), but figuratively: My paleness (sickness) to you, your ruddiness (health) to me).
also in cities, firecrackers and explosions could be heard everywhere in this years unfortunately.

Ciao Saam! anther interesting description of your Country traditions!
I think tha in many countries there are fire celebrations: in mine area people burn great heaps of wood on January 6, after having pruned trees - this must be very different from your tradition: in your picture I note note the fire in the town near a car, may be dangerous?

nice capture of this colorful moment.
the night before noroz celebration is almost like the celebration in india. the night before spring festival of holi we also build fire to drive away the evil and destroy all the bad elements in our life.
nice framing of the boys in this composition against the color of the fire.
