An 80 year old beautiful hand-carved pillar with lion heads made of stone bealonging to the era of Reza Shah Pahlavi (Reign: 1925-1941), Sa'd Abad Royal Complex, Tehran.

Lion is used as the symbol of power and pride through the history of the Persian empire since ancient times. Apart from the National emblem of the Lion & Sun, it was used in all handicrafts and artworks to show braveness and pride. In the west of Iran, even the grave stones of brave men and sometimes women were made in the shape of a lion.
