My Intro to Israel, Day 2, Scene 6
Ein Gedi was as far north as we would venture that day. Our next stop was a little south, on the way back to our hotel, at Masada.
Masada is an ancient fortification on top of an isolated rock plateau (like a mesa), overlooking the Dead Sea. Herod the Great built palaces for himself on the mountain and fortified Masada between 37 and 31 BCE. According to Josephus, the Siege of Masada by troops of the Roman Empire towards the end of the First JewishRoman War ended in the mass suicide of the 960 Sicarii rebels and their families hiding there.
This was taken from the bus on approach to the visitors' center at the bottom of the hill. From the visitors' center one can take the cable car or walk the Snake Path up to the top of the hill, where the ancient ruins lie.

Shalom, Murat,
First of all I like this informative note, I've read this history but I really like to recall this information once again. Excellent presentation of the desert, impressive landscape, what can you do here without the water? Perfect DoF!
best wishes from Ural,
Serghei

A Wikipedia page about the Marl rocks, the brighter barren land, Murat.
A salt water residue that made this special earth formation, where the dried long ago Dead-sea.
Fine applied with blue sky and sea on far and above.
Enjoy your weekend,
Ike

Hello Murat,
a landscape of striking depth and aridity, it's amazing how it goes on and on until it mysteriously reaches the horizon and the pastel, relaxing sky. You rendered the textures in a superb way, the light exalts the warm tones, it's really overwhelming. Amazing how people once lived there and fought for this place. Congratulations and thank you!
All the best, have a great day,
Ourania

Hi Murat,
Very interesting formations, almost like a quasi-Grand Canyon from this perspective. :) Either that, or it's a landscape straight out of Star Wars...who know's what's going to come flying up from below??
A minimal scene, but I like that your composition has displayed the layers of color and form. Wide open and vast...similar to the Az. desert. Enjoy the rest of the evening. Take it easy.
Friendly wishes,
Jason

Hi Murat
A breathtakingly extensive landscape and feel of vastness with lovely defined bands of diff colours and textures on which blue water in the distant balances the layers of earth tones whilst still remaining at contrast to each other. Just great despite the weather condition, you did strike the right balance there! Excellent capture, Congrats
Best regards
