Photographer's Note
A series of pictures, a project dedicated to one of Givatayim oldest street with a natural canopy by large number of old Ficus trees "rising" up to 30m above ground. But the main attraction are the beautiful roots of such trees, number of photos attached as five WS's.
Scientific name for those trees is Ficus-Microcarpa, or more commonly known as Indian-Laurel, a tall tree as shown on the street scenery WS.
Origin in India, Sri-Lanka and Malaysia, brought to Israel in the early 1920th by the British army (along with the Eucalyptus trees from Australia).
The reason I show and write this, because there is a plane to renovate this old street, named after Israel Taiber (1894-1950), one of the first citizen, agriculture-developer and establisher of my hometown Givatayim. Hope the trees will survive.
Location on the map is at 32.07187, 34.8081 .
All pictures converted from RAW, F4.0, 1/60, ISO100. It was a difficult decision to choose which would be posted as main photo.

Hello Ike,
Your main photograph was immediately intriguing, a fine close-up displaying excellent textural details.
I actually liked the close-up in the w/s even better as the roots seemed to mimic a rib cage!
The second w/s reveals exactly where these trees are to be found and what a beautiful tunnel of trees they create.
Have a lovely Sunday,
Bev :-)

superb these trunks or roots of ficus (a preference for the WS without background); I would never have thought that they could be trees in cities, at us they are in pots in our stays!

Hello Ike!
Im like this kind of roots a lot.It is living art, done by nature.I`ve seen many of these in Asia and South America. In the jungle it`s the ficus strategy to survive.
A good and sharp shot with many fine details at the wood.

Hi Ike,
The tight frame is puttin the roots in evidence. The point of view is showing the details of the ficus roots. I hope the renovator will keep the trees. Have a nice day.

Hello Ike,
While the first WS shows us the streets and how the trees are placed, any of this or WS#2 would have made an equally good main photo. The complexity of these roots, high above the ground, is amazing. They are like strange works of art. As often before, natures has been the best artist. The photo are all sharp and clear, but as for the note I would have guessed that Mr. Taiber was born in 1884. But checking the internet it seems it probably was 1894. ;-)
Best regards,
Gert

Hi Ike,
Ficus trees are indeed special, a pity they don't grow in Finland. This view shows nature's art well. Soft sidelight without direct sunshine is excellent.

Hello Ike,
Looks like a banyan tree. For a moment I thought you'd been to Angkor Wat! Good natural repetition of patterns and shapes with excellent sharpness and texture. Tfs!

Hello Ike, three excellent shots informing us all about the Ficus trees. Are they evergreen or deciduous?
The roots are like natural sculptures, each tree unique.
It would be a shame if the trees were to be felled, maybe there are health and safety reasons, possibly of the roots disturbing the pavements?
Thanks for sharing, kind regards, Jean.

Hi Ike,
fantastic series of photos. The plants are truly extraordinary. It reminds me a picture by Jean were an artist used a drift wood to create sculptures. Here it is the nature who is the artist and it is captured at its best.
Excellent natural phenomenon.

Hello Ike,
For a moment I thought you had taken a picture in Angkor Wat :)
I really hope the trees will survive the new plans. In fact, you need the trees to clear the air. In the WS we see there are more cars on that street than trees.
The tree roots are like beautiful sculptures.
Best regards, Paul

Hello Ike As chameleons, these strong roots seem to have coloured themselves according to the near environment to play 'low profile'.
Lot of determination is needed overtime to secure themselves to their support with the aim to outshine the latter once and for all, as if endowed with some kind of a mysterious soul!
Some people say that house plants need love expressed by sweet talks!
Thanks for showing this natural oddity with fine details.

hello Ike, Interesting view of the ficus tree. I have seen many of them in Asia. Very often they are decorated with wool od ribbons as the holy trees. hopefully, they will not be removed during the road renovation. Nice also Workshop photos,

Bonjour, cher ami Ike,

Hi Ike.
All the photos are splendid, but I would have had no doubt which one to put as the main one and it is the first one that appears in the WS with the perspective of the street and these spectacular ficus, but the size of its trunks and branches is impressive.
In summer your street must be very cool, as it must have shade all day.
Wonderful colors, soft tones, excellent sharpness and splendid light.
Very well done. I like very much.
You have a good day.
Very best regards.
Luis.
