Photographer's Note
A very fresh shot, taken this morning, in the southern part of Israel. This is the border between Israel and Gaza strip, which is a part of the Palestinian Authority.
The tall chimneys belong to the power plant in Ashqelon Israel, a few km north from the border. The left side, and the closer low houses is the Gaza strip.
A very sad border, I wish that it will be a border of peace some day.

Yes, I agree with you that it is a sad border, Yitzhak! Actually all borders are in some way oppressive.
I like the way you took the shot behind the men - their backs are another barrier too. The perspective works finely to add even more to the atmosphere. Excellent capture!

I can only agree with your and everybody else's comments about the characteristic of that border, and about the wish for peace. Your composition enhances the message and the mood a lot, including the topping by the gray clouds. A poignant posting, Yitzhak.

This is somewhat of an unusual photo for you, but it it great. Conveys a lot of emotion, with the position of those two men (who are probably waiting for a ride, but look like they are longing to something), and grey clouds above...

I like pictures where you don't really need to add something after reading the note. This one is one of those. I like the contrast and the view over the people`s shoulders. Nice shot Yitzahk.

i like this picture, interesting, two guys looking at the border, who know what they are thinking about.. nice color and composition. but why all details are gone, the picture looks like a painting... too much post processing for my taste. but the scene is good

I wish for peace too. I thought you are in London.
Anyway, I like this picture as I feel I am one of those looking into the border. Very good! Nice colors.
Be careful. Peace.

Belle représentation photographique du regard des hommes vers un monde qui souhaite la paix. Beaucoup d'émotion dans cette prise de vue Yitzhak.
Bien vu.

it's a very symbolic and journalistic photo.
Great choice to capture it looking at the backs of these people. There's something very hopeless about their poses, but also something strong. Yeah, hopefully one day they'll be able to reach a solution.
Great photo, although a bit oversharpened i.m.o.

Not one of your best 'technically perfect' shots, but because of its powerful content & location, your excellent notes, & intense global interest & focus on this region, it still get a thumbs up.

Very good, and like claude says, the first time you bring this subject up, a tough place to live i guess. I see what maciek was talking about- the fields look like they were painted as do the little houses, i like the softness it gives this troubled land. Great compo, well done.

Deux silhouettes qui dialoguent à distance avec deux cheminées. Une très belle façon d'abolir les distances et de créer un dialogue entre deux mondes. un travail photographique pour la paix, je suis avec toi.
Two silhouettes which dialogue remotely with two chimneys. A very beautiful way to abolish the distances and to create a dialogue between two worlds. A photographic work to the peace,I am with you.

As you sad, this is a very sad border and one can only hope that there will be peace in this, your, part of the world one day. Soon i hope. You have captured this scene in a very sensative way Yitzhak. there is alot of emotion in this picture, even without seing any actual faces. That, in fact, probably enhances it. Very well done.

I guess that's everybody wish, except for some... :-((
Once, I "saw" the Portuguese border with Spain from the top of Marvão Castle and when I looked I could distinguish where one country ended and the other started! The borders are just in the mind of people.
Good composition. It's almost like if we there watching it ourselves. Good colors and details.

Yitzhak you captured a nice photo with a great meaning!
I wish some time I'll see another photo of the same place where this sad border will not exist anymore and people will live together peacefully... A very meaningful posting!
