Photographer's Note
from one long hot summer...
---
Bir Zikrit, sometimes also spelt 'Zhikrit' or 'Zekreet', is located on the eastern edge of Qatar.
Otherwise known as “Ras Abrouq,” it is a popular spot for weekend campers and those seeking desert solitude. Four-wheel drive is required to get there.
It's a kind of nature reserve with a quiet, shallow beach area, secluded from view by virtue of Zikrit’s dunes and rocky banks.
---
This picture was shows the only 'village' on this tiny peninsula. Actually, it was built as a movie set and is completely deserted, apart from a lonely caretaker who lives there. A bit spooky.
It was also very, very hot.

Hello Benny,
Qatar in July, that sounds nice. Rehearsing for the World Cup of 2022?
I don't know if this is old, or new and made to look old. Doesn't really matter, it's a nice view anyway, looking very traditional with the little minaret and the palms. The harsh mid-day light is very well handled and the colours are pleasantly soft.

Gert

Salut Benny-Oui-Oui,
Sorry for the familiarity... :-p))
Hey Ben! This is a great shot, almost back lit but full of details in the front, probably due to sand reflecting light.
I like the geometric aspect, looking like a Lego house, except with the cone in the middle. The palm trees are nicely placed in your composition and break the sandy colour domination. It doesn't look spooky in image, but I guess that this feeling and atmosphere comes from the isolation when you are on the premises.
Simply beautiful.
Cheers!

Hello Benny,
Beautiful shot with the palm tree casting a shadow . Like the warm tones of the village and the cone with the halfmoon generates an interest. The image is well composed with sharpness and colors.

Emilius

Hello Benny
Love the little crescent on the deserted movie set resembling a mud walled town with a mosque. Good sharpness & pastel colors with superb warm vs cold color contrasts. Tfs!

Hi Ben,
Excellent photo of this part of the world of which we think we know but I don't. I have experienced a number of solitudes but never the desert one. I am sure it is different.
Thanks for sharing

Hi Benny!
A very striking photo! Some great textures to this building with some interesting play of indirect light. I see in your notes that it was actually built as a movie set! And I bet it was hot! A very striking photo! Warm regards,
Steve
