Black Sea Cliffs, a photo from Bartin, Black Sea

Photographer's Note

Amasra is an attractive coastal city on the Black Sea coast. Shown here are some of the steep cliffs plunging into the sea. It was very windy that day and I quickly abandoned any thoughts of walking along a narrow pedestrian goat track between two almost sheer drops. The tongue of land at right in the midground is Rabbit Island, a favourite roosting spot for seabirds.

Chris, impressive steep cliffs plunging in the sea. It should be deep here and to bath is not possible. To stand on that cliff is scary. Nice details of the black sea shore coastline in Amasra. Splendid nature photo. Perfect image quality, good pov, regards

Hello Chris,
Amasra is a nice but a largely neglected town. A picture I posted seven years ago is still on the first page of the Amasra gallery. I understand your reluctance to walk along these cliffs in the strong wind, but before you left you managed quite an exciting photo of steep grey slopes and a very dark blue sea.

Hello Chris,

This view is no good for anyone with vertigo.
I am not surprised that you abandoned any ideas of walking above here, with a strong wind to make you unstable, too!

The scene is vast.
You have captured the wildness of the location, the sheerness of the slopes and the foaming sea beneath.
The rock cliffs, anchor the f/g and create an immense sense of depth to the most distant land peninsula.

Il semble que ton choix de point de vue comporte certains dangers. On dirait que tu as les deux pieds dans le vide.Par contre, le paysage en valait la peine.

Hello Chris,
A fantastic view of the coastline and the wonderful cliffs here. The foreground adds a nice sense of vertigo too as we can look straight down towards the waves crashing into the rocks there. The colours are excellent and well-saturated.

Hello Chris, a scene of natural beauty.
The sea is a wonderful indigo. Excellent sharp quality right to the horizon.
You cannot be too careful close to the edge of steep cliffs and a strong wind blowing!
