Photographer's Note

I love the sight of Turkish minarets that look like sharpened pencils. So, while we were waiting for the ferry boat, I could not help taking a few shots of the minarets of Yeni Cami (New Mosque). The construction of this mosque began in 1597 upon the order of Sultana Safiye, the wife of Sultan Murad III and later Valide Sultan (Queen Mother) of Sultan Mehmed III. She ordered the mosque in her capacity as Valide Sultan, two years after Mehmed III's ascension to the Ottoman throne in 1595, hence the mosqueâ€™s formal name â€™New Valide Sultan Mosqueâ€™, which was abbreviated to â€™New Mosque.â€™

I also like mosques and their narrow and sharp minarets, I visited many of them and have hundreds photos. Nice night shot, original composition with the domes.

Hello Murat,
A fine composition with a strong vertical accent and great light during the blue hour. The Yeni Cami is a well known landmark, but I do not recall what the blue tower is.

Hi Murat,
A sight that is most inteesting POV to show. But, and do not take this as an insult - the 1600ISO number is too high for this night shot, due to abundance of illuminations, and cause "grains" on dark parts.
The place itself is beautiful and POV chosen well.

I like the electric blue color of the bg minaret at right contrasting against the yellow illuminated minaret at left in the fg. Smart choice of a vertical format to emphasize the height. Good sharpness and nice repetition of the domes and cupolas. Tfs.

The angle works for me and here the lines, material and sharp edges combine to lead the eye deeper into the architectural beauty and the towering sharpened pencil. A wonderfully framed and finely detailed, the warm tones definition and clarity is impressive with lovely additional blue which gives the image an extra kick. Excellent, calm peaceful night shot to be proud off. Congrats
