Photographer's Note

Picture taken in late afternoon in an apartment in downtown Adana, Turkey. These kerosene oil lamps were relatively inexpensive and very common in many apartments. They provided an alternative to frequent power outages during the summer. They also gave a nice mood feel to a living room. This was back lit from the apartment window and gave a look of elegance to a common item. Hand held exposure (more ego than common sense);Lens was carl zeiss threaded 55 mm. Film was agfachrome (available in European photo shops back then). When I look at this picture now; I realize that a tripod would have helped and it needs a little cropping from the bottom.
