Photographer's Note
This is a kind of photo I rarely show, just a rural scenery and nothing else. No farmer standing in the foreground, no cows or horses.
But I found this photo when I was looking through my archive from the Middle East in 1970. I thought it looked okay, so I scanned it, and here it is, nice and grainy. ;-)
This was taken from a train somewhere in eastern Anatolia, Turkey's vast interior. Reading my diary and estimating the time, I decided we must have been in the province of Erzincan.
My friend and I were making a long and tiresome journey from Kayseri in central Turkey, where we had stopped to see Cappadocia, to Erzurum in the east where we were to look for a bus to Iran.
The train had probably stopped here for seemingly no reason at all. My memory tells me how we wasted hours at small stations in the middle of nowhere. It was a very slow journey.
This was scanned from an Agfacolor CT18 slide.

Yet another picture from more than 50 years ago, Gert, I tend to believe that this valley looks the same as it was back in times.
It doe's looks OK with the scanned job done.
Have a nice sunday,
Ike

a beautiful rural area. I liked the shapes of the hills and their small valleys. you got a nice image even inside the train. very beautiful.
I presume you saw images of the accident with tourists in a boat cruiser in a canyon in Brazil. check the video bellow:

Hi Gert,a rare pic from east Anatolia, not an usual touristic destination now too, so very precious, it reminds a lot Tuscany in summer with the hills and the cultivated fields, the quality is still good. Have a nice Sunday and thanks,Luciano

Hi Gert,
The wideness of the area is giving depth to the composition. The point of view is showing the details of the fields and of the mountains. The light is bringing out the colors. Have a nice day.

Hi Gert
Beautiful landscape, definitely worth photographing. I like the mixture of colours from the warm orange/brown of the fields in the foreground to the pale blue of the sky. The mountains are very beautiful.
Best wishes
Kasia

Hello Gert,
With the exception of once in the European part, I have never travelled by train in Turkey.
I remember guidebooks always insisting that the buses were faster and more comfortable. But actually I've never tried the trains.
I also don't know the region of Erzincan at all. I've only travelled there once overnight.
Otherwise this seems like a typical Turkish sight with the barren mountain slopes and the fields bordered by poplars.
Still, one that I definitely like.
Excellent perspective. But no farmer in sight. This is an extraordinary photo for you.
Best regards, Paul

Hi Gert
Best staying with the small version for this panoramic photo of an unusual scene for photos posted of Turkey. I like it - we saw lots like it travelling around Turkey travelling by bus and not train.
cheers

Hello Gert,
Oh, yes, we are looking at the typical terrain of central Anatolia / eastern Turkey. The rumor has it that Timur the Lame could not proceed with his army on elephants because of the thick forests of Anatolia - look at centuries of devastation.

Hello Gert,
Excellent quality for the picture taken through the train window more than 50 years ago. Slow journey by train, I wouldn't mind. Nice view of the bare hills although not so fascinating like Cappadocia.
You travelled here with the friend. Was this your only trip with someone? It seems, later you travelled always alone, was it the bad experience?
Have a nice day.

Hi Gert,
Although this photo is more than 50 years old, the quality is unqualified. Great panorama from rural country side with farmer's field in the FG and mountains on the horizon.
Well done!
Best regards,
Zbigniew

Hello Gert,
You describe a long, slow journey which seems perfect for this view, with a long perspective on the f/g, leading to equally long views of the weathered hill slopes. It seems impossible to rush this!
The f/g has shallow furrows, guiding inwards, which seem perfect foils for the much deeper channels evident on the slopes beyond.
My warm regards,
Bev :-)

Hello Gert, taken through the window of the train, the quality is still very good.
An unusual post for you, but why not? Break the mould!
Lovely colours and colours.
Kind regards, Jean.

Hi Gert.
I really like landscape photos, but many times we see magical places pass by and you cannot stop, either because you go by bus, train or with your car and the road does not allow stopping.
This place reminds me of the Erzurum area, great contrast in the foreground fields that seem to be cultivated, behind trees and flat as if a river passed by and in the background the bare mountains.
A magnificent range of colors, which gives an attractive chromatism.
Very good management of the brightness, as well as the sharpness of the image.
Good work, which we enjoy. I love it.
Have a great day.
Very best regards.
Luis.
