Photographer's Note

Hatice was the caretaker of a very old Istanbul house we have been shooting in last week...
as the owners cannot get the licence to restore the house, they pay her family a small money to live there and guard the place...

Hatice is 22 years old, married 16 and has 3 kids; 6 months old, 2,5 and 3,5 yrs old..

she is very beautiful...and she has such a sweet and peaceful face in spite of a very diffcult life she lives...and a soul that's really reflected by her eyes...

A very well done portrait Fusun. I like the slight of centre even if a portrait format with a hard crop also would be fine (out of WS). The focus of both attention and picture is the eyes and they are so well shown here. Very very well done!!

Your portraits has become a standard feature at TE, and a good one too. I like this one as well, but think it would have benefitted from being in B&W, since the colors are weak. This can be done with tinkering with the Channel Mixer in PS7 (set to monochrome). This, however, fits best when there are shadows and contrasts to work with.

Overall, the look you captured brings out the best in your friend.

Very up close and personal potrait Fusun. Not only you could see her facial expression but the meaning of her eyes too. And she is only 22 but by the look of her, she is much older. If not matured.

Fusun , this is an honest portrait with lots of dept. I it almost looks like unreally because it is so reall(I hope yopu understand what I mean) I really like the eye contact well done. Have you tried the photo in B&W. That eyes will looks so sparkly i believe, well done.

Wonderful note and a superb photo. Her story is told in her face.

Some of the workshops have missed the point of photography as storytelling.

I like the composition, the lighting and the framing. Very well done.

i guess this photo could have been a competition to the so very famous photo from NG of the afghani girl ... but than your lady is happy and that is usually not what people like to see/hear or read ....

what a beautiful, intense portrait. and nice note. she shows a bit more than her 22 years but she is really beautiful and her eyes, which are the real focus of the pic, are very intense.
