Photographer's Note

The Arabian Oryx is, of itself, sufficient reason to travel to the Wildlife Park in Al Ain. It is the national animal of the United Arab Emirates, having become extinct in the wild in 1972. Since that time, efforts have been made to reintroduce the Oryx to more natural surroundings, being native to the Arabian peninsula. It is the smallest member of the Oryx genus, possessed of a distinct shoulder hump, with long, straight horns, and a tufted tail. Both male and females possess horns.
