Photographer's Note
Consider walking by a pond one day. A shiny stone catches your eye and you pick it up, handle and admire it, and then for no particular reason you toss the stone into the pond. The surface of the water breaks, ripples run, and the rock vanishes beneath the surface. You smile as you watch the pretty ripples and then turn and go on your way.
Have you ever stood and watched the stone sink until it disappears? Or imagined where the ripples went? Or where the rock finally landed? Have you ever considered how the pond has changed since you arrived there? How your tossing of the stone into the water might affect something else? We all view the tossing of the stone into the water differently, don't we?

Taken on the shore of Lake Simcoe, somewhere between Barrie and Orillia, Ontario. A chilly spring day. And me, trying on a new camera, since my last little camera doesn't want to work well anymore.
Please let me know what you think of this photo, or of the camera if you have an opinion. Thanks for stopping by, and looking.

Hi Michelle - nice to see another shot from you. I think you should be very happy with your new camera. This shot is beautifully sharp and clear, and the colours seem very natural. I like it a lot. It may also make a nice shot (though a different mood) if you cropped to just above the rocks. But then I guess you'd lose this lovely sense of space...

Hi Michele,
A good POV of the stones and the lake, the small movement of the water is an asset to the photo. It has a good composition.

A nice and clean composition of water, stones and shore, Michelle. I like how you've included the horizon and the small part of shore - and how we're able to see it continue under the clear water. Even the "chilliness" is well rendered in the colors - it seems to be quite a nice camera. I think that you could've waited a second or two, so the ripples had started to spread - but the position is quite right. Very well done!
