Photographer's Note
A view of Mount Baker (located in the USA) seen from our area at sunset.
About this photo: Last night I noticed a pinkish glow in the sky, so I went outside to have a look and I saw Mount Baker basking in the last sunlight of the day. The building in the distance caught a bit of the last sunlight as well and the sky was painted in beautiful colours. I just had to get my camera and take a photo of it.
~Camera Settings:
*Camera Model: Sony Alpha DSLR A200
*Focal Length: 70mm
*F-Number: F/10
*Exposure Time: 0.6 sec.

I used my circular polarizer, I added some contrast and saturation to this photo to bring out the colours a little more.
Thank you for dropping by and I hope you like this photo!

Some information on New Westminster: New Westminster is a city that belongs to the Greater Vancouver area. New Westminster is located about 20 minutes from downtown Vancouver along the Fraser River. This beautiful city is also called "The Royal City". The city also reminds people of San Francisco, especially because of the steep hills in town. So be prepared for those hills! There are great views over the Fraser River, the mountains and Mount Baker is visible on cleared days from New Westminster. Mount Baker stand about a height of 3,286m/10,781ft.
New Westminster was founded by the Royal Engineers under the command of Colonel Richard Clement Moody, and named by Queen Victoria after her favourite neighbourhood in London, Westminster. It is also the oldest city in western Canada and it was the capital of British Columbia between 1858 and 1866.
Located right in the middle of the Greater Vancouver network today, New Westminster is a charming mix of old and new, with a picturesque waterfront and fabulous Victorian architecture. It's a vibrant and progressive city with a community rich in tradition and respect for its heritage.
Come and visit this beautiful city when you are in Vancouver and find out for yourself how charming this city is. There are many things to see and to visit in New Westminster such as: New Westminster Museum and Archives, Iving House, the Samson V Paddle Wheeler, New Westminster Quay Public Market, the Antique Alley, Queen's Park, the 7-11 cycling Trail and much more.

Hi Ann,
Whoa, that's a cracker of a shot, the light on the mountain peak is spectacular.
Good looking composition, using so much of that brilliant sky works perfectly.
Superb colours, pinks through to mauve and back again, just brilliant.
My best wishes for a great 2010.
Cheers

Hi Ann
Wow you captured an amazing array of colours. I really like the low horizon which gives more emphasis to that sky. Good for you for looking out the window. I did the same this morning as the sun lit up the clouds there was a pink glow to the back yard. Unfortunately by the time I got my camera ready it was gone. C'est la vie.

Dag Ann,
je hebt de kleuren mooi te pakken. De oplichtende bergtop en flats maken er een geweldige plaat van. Erg mooi.

Hi Ann, What a beautiful shot the contrast created between the last of the suns rays against the dark silouhete of the tree on the right is stunning. My first reaction was to crop it, but it lost its depth. What a beautiful country to live in. Have a great twenty ten.. Rich

Hi Ann,
The point of view is leading my eyes toward the mountains which is giving depth to the composition. The light of the sunset has a good effect on the colors of the sky, of the highrise buildind and the colors of the mountain. The trees in the foreground are helping in the framing of the picture. Have a nice day.

Ann

Daniel.
