To the west of the town of Banff the Trans Canada Highway runs for some distance beside the Bow River. Beyond the river are a forest with a little autumn colour from Larch trees and mountains.
In the workshop are 2 photos showing mountains along the highway.

Hi Ian

This looks similar to the scenery around Jasper to the north. Wonderful reflections in the fg lagoon & bg river with good sharpness and colour. Tfs!

Hello Ian,

What stunning scenery!
You have been able to compose the photograph as a series of horizontal layers, which visually emphasises their very different colours and textures: from the tall feathery textures of the trees, to the hard, rigid slopes of the mountains.

The reflections in the melt water grab immediate attention; a good starting point.

Thank you for your good wishes. We are living through very frightening times. The vaccines are being distributed quickly. My husband has already had his, as have our children, who work on the front line. Let's hope that these have the desired effect of curbing the spread of the disease!

The reflections on the water are assets to the composition. The point of view is showing the details of the trees and of the mountains. The light is enhancing the beauty of the colors. Have a nice day.

Hi Ian,
Canadian Rockies is certainly one of those destinations I want to visit some day. Magnificent mountain landscape where that river makes a beautiful foreground. Larches add some extra colour. Workshops look great too.

marvelous these three photos, the last one has impressive peaks of pure rock, much more imposing than the same mountain range I saw in USA. the main post has many levels and details.

Hello Ian,
I must have seen this view as well, but the weather was quite bad at the time and most of the mountains had disappeared into the clouds. Wonderful view of the peaks, the green slopes and the river in the foreground, all presented well in the vertical composition.

This is a magnificent view. It looks breathtaking in this photo; I can only imagine how impressive it is in person. I like the different layers: first the river, then the slightly golden trees, the darker green ones, and finally the mountains. There's even a bit of reflection in the foreground. :-) Take care!

Banff National Park is a wonderful place to visit. I remember my trip from Jasper to USA through the Canadian Rocky Mountains.
Great mountain photo that shows three kind of layers: river, forest and mountains. The calm water on the river made it possible to get a nice reflection.
Successful photo as well as colors, light and sharpness.

Hi Ian,
beautiful series of photos. The main one is probably the most attractive. I like seeing multiple horizontal layers with different colors. Autumnal colors enter the scene subtly.
