Yep not bad ,better by far than your blue vertion, still needs the bottom cropping off about half way to the log and maybe a little off the top to balance the distance.and bit more contrast and sharpen.

Ah...much better. I like this one. The detail of the log is much more evident. Try it with the crop that Rob suggested and then apply the following unsharp mask: 20/45/0. I think you'll like the detail that emerges very much.
