1957 Fordson Major Diesel, a photo from British Columbia, Western

Photographer's Note

Last week I went to see my Joe a farmer in Chilliwack.I took a walk camera in hand to his corn field for photo ops. Along the pathway I saw how the setting sun lit up the top of this old tractor. I took the shot and did some researh on it via the internet.
I found out that this tractor was made in Dagenham, England. This model is a 1956 model. Whats funny is that I assumed that this old tractor was simply sitting here for storage and parts. I guess its the cobwebs on it and the rusty appearance. But a few days later I returned to the farm to see Joe using it to pull a huge sorn wagon. Joe bragged about how it ras so smoot and vibration free. I couldn't believe it. Back then Ford actually made things to last. Too funny. Enjoy.

Hey Paul, not yoru usual I wouldnt say but, pleasing all the same! I especially like the light in this shot, on the old tractor, we can see its old and im impressed tha tit still works!

I liek the cobwebs on the tractor too : )

Hi Paul;

As Mark mentioned, a bit of a change from your usual scenics shots. I really like the composition here, and the fact that you did not feel the need to capture the entire tractor...
I do feel the image could be a tad brighter, which I've posted a workshop with a suggestion...

Fantastic! I really like this shot Paul. As others have said, it's not your usual, but wow, what a look! The lighting is very beautiful and dramatic, emphasizing the shape of this great old machine. I think it might look even better if the right side was cropped, leaving just the centre and left, but then you wouldn't be able to tell it was a tractor. I'm adding this to my favourites!

Hi paul,
I find your WS very lovely, better than this here, the details its very great in the WS. In Belgium around 1950 and 1960 all "Fergison" and "Steyer" tractors, sometimes with one cylinder and 35 HP.
Always very pretty walking around the old farm, and with the camera in the hand!!!

A change of direction Paul? I like the contrast of the light and dark and the way the cobwebs are lit up. I like the crop too; I'm sure I would have tried to get the whole thing in and ruined it.

A different subject from your collection.
Good composition. The rust of the machine are well captured, showing its fine detail and the cobwebs. The color are well "preserved" too, for such old machine and still got the name intacted.
