Photographer's Note

As photographers, we may too often fail by thinking that a beautiful sky is sufficient to carry a foto. I hope I have not committed that sin here.

On this night in La Paz, Hurricane Rick was about 200 miles away. The cloud bands are typical of a hurricane weather system. Rain is rare in La Paz, but it had rained intermittently all day -- hard tropical rains of an inch per hour, then clearing, on and off and on again. At sunset, the wind was blowing, but the weather did not stop the Paceņos from enjoying a walk on the malecon or a chat on the beautiful kiosko.

I have tried to sharpen this foto as much as possible, but please note it was a 1/4-second exposure and please permit me to modestly boast (if that is possible) that it was hand-held.

I kept that 4MP Panasonic camera long after it became obsolete, mostly because the Leica lens was fabulous. When this foto was taken, the camera was six years old! I loved that camera!
