Photographer's Note
I went to the cemetery very early this morning. We arrived pre-dawn and climbed a hill on the east and waited for the sun to illuminate the scene -- but it never did. As the sun rose, some light clouds moved in, so the light stayed even as the scene grew brighter.
The "trick" in this scene is familiar and easy -- a long focal length from a high POV compresses the depth of the scene, making more distant objects appear to be stacked on top of the nearer ones. Still, I love the colors and got lucky with the solitary man walking down the center of the road, where he was easily seen.
For the record -- shot with the lens fully extended at 200 mm, ISO 100, f/5.6 and shutter at 1/60, and I was using a monopod.

Hello Russ,
This is a very interesting cemetery scene. It's colorful and different from what we see here in the US. As opposed to gravestones, there are so many of those small structures packed together. You did get lucky with that lone man walking down the path. He conveys a feeling of solitude. Even though the subject is solemn, this photo jumps out and hold my attention with all of the details and colors.

Hi, Russ, (greetings from RUSSia ;) )
Good contribution to the Cemeery theme on the TE. This is very interesting photo, it shows us a local culture when most of the gone from this world have a small personal house.
Good choice of the point of view for so good observation.
Best wishes,
Serghei

Hey Russ,
Beautiful scene, there is nothing I like to stroll around camera in hand more than a beautiful city of the dead, and this is a fine example. The difference between this and the ones I see in Ireland, is that this actually is a city, so many little buildings making this a strange urban view. The range of colors is very celebratory too , this does not seem like a place of sadness, but a place of proud remembrance. Very cool shot.
I hope all is well!

Hi Russ
Interesting way to show a cemetery.
A very Mexican scene. You should be there on 1,2 November, during the Dia de Muertos.
Saludos cordiales

Hello Russ,
thank you very much for your comment, I hope you're still enjoying your research and experiments on photography, even though you don't seem to have much time for TE. I like this picture very much, the colourful little "houses" make a compact, peaceful and mysterious town, how many stories are enclosed in each of them. I like how the road enters from the corner of the frame and how it's blocked shortly after. The solitary person heading to the dead end adds a great story, the car looks like a watchful companion. Clarity and colours are marvellous. Congratulations and thank you!
All the best, have a great day,
Ourania
