Photographer's Note

This is Peyto Lake in the Canadian Rockies, located along the Icefield Parkway. There are a number of viewpoint locations, lakes, mountain top viewpoints, etc that one can stop along their way through this parkway. One of the most interesting aspects of Peyto lake is the long view of the mountain ranges on both sides of this valley. And to the left of this view is a glacier which in the middle of the summer has melted enough of itself into this lake creating this rock flour, glacier water blue tone that you see in many of these lakes.

In the workshop you can see the other side of the lake showing where the glacier water enters this lake from the glacier above.

When you travel to see this site there is preference given to the buses and you may have to walk up from a lower elevation for ten minutes until you come to this viewpoint. I would say its well worth it. This lake is just one of many locations you can visit along this Parkway. They say that this is the most scenic highway in all the world. I would have to say that it definitely is one of most scenic route in all the rocky mountains. I have not seen the rest of the world yet. Enjoy.
