Helsinki: Tuomiokirkko

I continue my tour of European countries that I visited over the past few years with my first photo from Finland. It was taken three years ago, when I spent my summer holidays in Helsinki. The photo was taken from the ferry to the fortress island of Suomenlinna, just off the Helsinki coast.

Seen here is the most famous monument of Helsinki: Helsingin Tuomiokirkko (Helsinki Cathedral). Located at Senate Square in the heart of the city, the Finnish Evangelical Lutheran cathedral was built between 1830 and 1852 as a tribute to the Grand Duke of Finland of the time, Tsar Nicolas I of Russia.

Thanks for your visit and I hope you like this one!
