Photographer's Note

In the northern section of Madison Square Park thereís a lovely reflecting pool, and depending on where you stand, itís possible to capture some of the interesting nearby architecture in the water.

Here you get a glimpse of the New York Life Building and its signature gold roof. This Gothic Revival tower opened in 1928. It has 40 floors; 34 floors of office space, topped by a pyramid-shaped, gilded, six story roof. The roof consists of 25,000 gold-leaf dipped terracotta tiles, with a fineness of 22 karats.

The New York Life Building is both a national and city landmark. The black building beside it houses offices and showrooms, and was built in 1974.

In the WS is another view.
