Photographer's Note
This was taken while visiting quebec city for the Quebec City International Festival of Military Bands.
The Quebec City Armouries or Manège Militaire de Quebec was a Gothic Revival drill hall for the infantry regiment Les Voltigeurs de Québec. It was built between 1885 and 1888 and designed by architect Eugène-Étienne Taché.
The armoury was destroyed by a fire on April 5, 2008 and all but a rear wall and turrets from the front door survived. A museum in the amoury which housed various artifacts from the regiment was also lost in the fire. Though, officials estimate 90 percent of the artifacts were saved due to efforts by members of the Regiment and Quebec City firefighters.
The armoury was to have been one of the venues for the celebration of Quebec's 400th birthday.
The armoury wooden roof was one of the largest in Canada.
Calls have been made by politicians to rebuild the armoury, to which the federal government has responded postively

Angela, what a shame about this historical place. Your shot of the gate is nice and the detail and colors come through well. Hopefully you have additional shots of this place or at the least will keep us informed if you find out more.

Hi Angela,
good photo, good composition and beautiful colours, nice contrast. I wonder if the image needs a bit of tilt to the right... but it may be the lens distortion effect...?
I like it :)

Elena

hi Angela
Of any place in the world Quebec city resembles the most about France and it is only natural with those names of places. So to visit a lovely place like Quebec is enjoyable with the friendly people, culture and architecture.
Good to see your travel is fruitful with photos. Nicely cropped towers of this facade view.
