Barn in Rosemont, a photo from New Jersey, Northeast

Photographer's Note

This scene is one I often have occasion to pass near my home in rural Hunterdon County, New Jersey. Although it is always hard to pass by without stopping the car and gazing, on this particular autumn day I thought the yellowing foliage in the foreground seemed to bring out the other colors in the scene even more. There are many old farms in these parts, but this one is particularly well preserved and on this day it looked especially fair.

Lisa, I really like the variations in colour here; they bring a sense of peace to the image. Very soothing scene and well captured. Great work!

Seems just a tad dark considering that it's a bright sunny day (the trees & bushes in the middle are dark whereas probably you could have seen some detail with the naked eye). I like the composition & colors.

Two elements works here nicely. First is the division of the frame to three planes. The front field, the middle field with the houses and barn and the tree line. It creates a sense of depth and continuity that I like a lot.
The second thing that works well with the first is the three houses with the barn that behind the tree increases the sense of depth in the frame. Well captured, well thought. One advice try better light to make it an even stronger frame, too bad this frame went unnoticed.

An engaging fall shot, Lisa. I am a sucker for rural scenes, and find all too few that are quaint, clear and well balanced. The red building on the far left nicely proportions the scene; the shadows on the barns are effective and there are interesting details such as the rail fence, the windows, and the stonework on part of the building. Then there are the lines of vision associated with the different fields, with a line of trees in between. A very satisfying capture. Regards, John.

I see there is beauty no matter where one lives. Although we wish we could be in another place perhaps but I see in this place a lovely setting and the detail and color is very good.

Lovely old barn indeed! I like to photograph them myself, regretfully there aren't many around anymore...
I notice it is painted red, just like they do in my part of Norway... Goes sooo well with your green fields and contrasting yellow flowers!
Very pleasant composition!
