Art Deco Brilliance, a photo from New York, Northeast

Photographer's Note

Today I present an old photo taken with my small compact camera in October, 2005, during my second trip to New York.

My passion for this city and for many of its buildings is well known here, of which the Chrysler is my favourite.

In this capture in a low-angle shot I looked for a visual angle very dared for to give it perspective to its needle and for to create a diagonal that was dividing the frame.

I liked the result, and I want to share it with all of you. I hope that you like.

The Chrysler building is an Art Déco skyscraper placed in the East side of Manhattan (New York, The United States), in 405 of Lexington Avenue and in the intersection of the 42nd street. It has turned into a distinctive symbol of the city. With its 319 meters (1.047 feet) of height, it was the highest building of the whole world for 11 months, until was overcome by the Empire State building in 1931. Constructed originally by the Chrysler Corporation, the building is nowadays a co-ownership of Royal TMW Estate (75 %) and Tishman Speyer Properties (25 %). The Chrysler building was designed by William van Alen, the contractor William H. Reynolds and later sold to Walter Percy Chrysler as headquarters for his company.

Hoy presento una vieja foto tomada con mi pequeña cámara compacta en octubre de 2005, durante mi segundo viaje a New York.

Es conocida mi pasión por esta ciudad y por muchos de sus edificios, de los cuales el Chrysler es mi favorito.

En esta toma en contrapicado busqué un ángulo visual muy atrevido para darle perspectiva a su aguja y crear una diagonal que dividiera el cuadro.

Me gustó el resultado, y quiero compartirlo con todos vosotros. Espero que os guste.

El edificio Chrysler es un rascacielos Art Déco situado en el lado este de Manhattan (Nueva York, Estados Unidos), en el 405 de la Avenida Lexington y en la intersección de la Calle 42. Se ha convertido en un símbolo distintivo de la ciudad. Con sus 319 metros (1.047 pies) de altura, fue el edificio más alto del mundo durante 11 meses, hasta que fue superado por el edificio Empire State en 1931. Olá Josep,
bem interessante mesmo essa captura desse famoso edifício. Vi uma vez um documentário do National Geografic ou Discovery Channel sobre a contrução dele e os detalhes arquitetônicos. Foi um marco para a época. Gostei da opção pelo P&B e o uso da diagonal para preencher melhor o enquadramento.

Por supuesto que gusta, es un encuadre muy original y que produce un bonito efecto estetico a la composicion, la aguja parece que quiere taladrar el cielo, este edificio es magnifico, a mi tambien me sorprendio y por supuesto me cautivo con su elegante linea. La ausencia casi de color da caracter y fuerza a esta imagen que nos presentas maravillosamente, con este bonito marco. Un gran trabajo amigo mio.

bellissimo il taglio in diagonale che hai dato all'immagine, mi piace molto perchè rende l'immagine molto più interessante ed accentua lo slancio del grattacielo.
Incredibili i dettagli fin su in cima ed i toni tenui di colore.
Incredibile la qualità considerando il mezzo che hai usato e la data di scatto.

Voilà une belle carte postale sur ta tour outre-atlantique préférée. J'aime bien le traitement quasi monochrome de ta photo et le point de vue choisi qui donne un effet de vertige intéressant. Belle et graphique image, merci Josep.

Cette architecture en impose par sa masse et par son élégance. L'époque Art Déco a paré de très nombreuses villes de réalisations de valeur. C'est le cas ici. Belle perspective au service d'un graphisme d'une grande beauté !

Per a mí, el Chrysler és el gratacels més maco de NY.
Aquest contrapicat en diagonal és molt estètic.
El cel gris + el color de la pedra acosta la imatge a un B/N.
Tot un clàssic.
M'agrada molt el resultat.

La prise de vue rend bien compte de la hauteur de l'immeuble ! de plus, cette façon originale de photographier donne à la composition une forme élégante et fait ressortir les motifs décoratifs particuliers.
Quand l'on pense qu'à Dubaï la dernière tour construite atteint une hauteur de 800 mètres, où l'homme va-t-il s'arrêter !!!
