Photographer's Note
Graduation "season" just passed and it was a lot of fun watching the new graduates celebrate by throwing their hats up in the air. After all those hours of toiling in labs, getting the degree feels really good. This is one such shot, except that the new graduate was throwing the hat at her mother, who was gleefully accepting it.
I titled it "from a student to a teacher" for two reasons. One, because a mother is the best teacher a child ever has, someone who teaches the child everything that she has ever known. The other reason being that I want to dedicate this shot to one of my favorites Catherine (noborders). She takes portraits and daily life shots, I take mainly landscapes. But I just adore her shots, they are so meaningful, I learn a lot from them. She has been trying to persuade me to take more "people" shots, so this one is for her. Hope she likes it :)
Taken at the spur of the moment, so forgive me the composition and other technicalities.

Hi Shaeri,
You took good advantage of the situation, the two newly graduated on each side, the hat in the top middle... and an interesting BG with the fountain and many more students... I think the girl on the left is a bit close to the frame, but i have to say that is a minor detail!
Greetings

The UK has gone "Health & Safety" Mad. This image reminded me of one of the latest pieces of madness. Graduates are now not supposed to throw their mortar boards in case someone gets injured!!!!
Good catch of a joyous occasion

Oh Shaeri, I'm so happy and moved ! By the lovely attention but also by this great photo !...
You keep on repeating that photographying people is difficult for you, but look at this one !!!
It's so joyful and light, it's perfect for me, really !!! I don't see any problem with composition "or other technicality", the interesting BG is there for us to see, but the smiles on the faces of the mother and daughter in the FG is what counts the most, I just love it - and will add it to my favorites !
Splendid "decisive moment", congrats to the newly graduate (I hope she can see this photo !)
Thank you for the attention, dhonnobadh a thousand times and... keep posting, I admire your versatility !
Best regards,
Cath.

Bonjour Shaeri,
les moments de bonheur sont des instants photographiques intenses, pas besoin de grande technique pour faire passer ce genre de message.
Dommage quand même pour les pieds coupés à droite.
Kind regards.
Daniel.

Dear Shaeri
I think I've seen at least one of the ladies in the pictures sent by you earlier. Like the idea...the hat is flying between them, well framed by the two ladies, who've just become Docs. Very different slice of life you showed us here & very well too!
Best Wishes

Hi Shaeri,
It's a very pleasant catch. You caught very well the joy of the moment. I wouldn't be evident for me which one is the daughter and which one is the mother if one wasn't dressed with those funny black robes, but that is another thing that makes it more interesting.
I don't think that technicalities are of much importance in such type of shot, but apart from very tight framing and a little OE that looks hardly unavoidable, I see no technical or "aesthetic" flaws.
Regards, José.

Shaeri bonjour.
Même si techniquement ce n'est pas la meilleure photo elle est pourtant un bel instantané montrant la joie d'une rencontre. C'est un double portrait très agréable à voir.

Hi Shaeri,
Sincerely speaking, I am disappointed.
Why could you not bend more to get the feet of the teacher in the main frame?
Place your hand on your heart and ask yourself.......did you not miss the mark?
Cheers for the brave attempt.

Hi Shaeri,
Here is a strong moment and euphoriant apparently !!! Pride of the mom for her daughter. I have the impression that they will dance to celebrate this diploma… I like much these expressions. Pretty glance, well done.

Hello Shaeri, there is such happiness in this shot, a very good 'spur of the moment' picture.Your timing was perfect with the hat almost in the centre.
The view through the window puts the fg into context, with all the people there for a happy occasion.
Tfs, regards Jean.

Hello Shaeri,
A very good action shot disguised as a still shot. The mother and daughter are gleeful, and deserve to be. I would have preferred them to be a little bit closer to each other, but we cannot have everything. At which institution is the photograph taken?
Warm regards,

Hey Shaeri!
You've analyzed our Dear Catherine's style very well, and therefore this is a good dedication to her. Full of humane warmth and a delicate humor, this one goes well along with her style.
Best wishes,
Deniz
