Super Soaker, a photo from Arizona, West

Since I had this one queued up for something else, but went another direction, I figured it would be a good chance to post one more photo here on TE while I had the chance. :)

I was out near my favorite spot to photograph, the Superstition Mountains, when a monsoon storm was once again starting to materialize and was even kind enough to produce a rainbow before it all turned dark.

This ended up being an intense storm, it rained in waves for quite some time...which as you can imagine, is always welcomed here in the desert!

Not much I could capture during the storm itself, but these few moments before the skies opened up sure made it all worthwhile for a few good photos. :)

And if that weren't good enough, it also cooled down to a tolerable level for a short period...which is also a godsend this time of year. LOL

Hello again Jason,
This view is stunning. What great luck not only to capture a wonderfully moody sky above the desert, but also a full rainbow. With the classic cacti, and the mountain in the distance, this would make a great poster advertising Arizona and the wild west. :-)

Hello Jason,

WOW! This is an eye-catcher!
The dark sky, the strangely lit landscape and the complete arc of a rainbow linking the two!
The big cactus is well placed, holding the f/g and acting like a spectator to the oncoming storm!

I'm intrigued by what classifies as 'a tolerable level', with regard to the temperature. There have been some unbearable heatwaves in parts of Europe this year with temperatures reaching the 40's. Fortunately that has not applied to the U.K. where we have had the complete opposite with lots of rain and temperatures just reaching the 20's!!! Something a little higher would be appreciated!!!

Hello Jason,
Hollywood could not have produced a finer picture from the Wild West. Despite tough competition from the dark sky, the rainbow and the mountain I would say that the cacti steal the show. There's no need for cowboys chasing indians (or the other way around) with these magnificent plants so well placed, and in such fine light despite the dark sky.

Bonour Jason,

Ton pays peut être vraiment très beau par moments. Ce désert offre plusieurs textures et couleurs mais le ciel et l'arc en ciel viennent tout remettre en perspective. J'aime la lumière sur le cactus sur la droite.

Hello Jason,
Awesome picture with the typical Arizona view. Nice saguaro cacti, fantastic that the rainbow is just over the mountain. And this dramatic sky and light. Like from the Western movies many years ago. Splendid composition.
Now we have also high temperatures in Warsaw, the forecast for today is 36 degrees.
