Calm After the Storm, a photo from California, West

Photographer's Note

Last Friday, there was light rain passing through Southern California, I had an afternoon off from work, drove to Newport Beach, Balboa Island where I lived for a few years, hoping to catch a nice sunset after the rain, but the clouds was still heavy at the horizon it just went from bright to complete darkness as soon as the sun went behind the thick clouds. Slightly on the Southeastern sky, there was still some nice light with the clear sky about and heavy cloud hanging at the horizon. I like the sense of clarity and calm after the storm has passed.

This picture and his soft light looks like a painting.
Also the composition is great, but also your thinking about the horizon is great (when the whole horizon would be right then the boats would have tilted over to the right..very good choise!).

What a cool shot in excellent clarity and details. The atmosphere is really attractive, soft warm sky area with nice low clouds and lovely combination of pinkish. The textured water and the shean of light add to the effect greatly and the colored boats render good contrast and additional interest. Well done

A lovely light over the marina!
The shimmering sea is an attractive element, with the contrasting sailboats and their masts painted against the evening sky with interesting cloud formations...
I think I can see a tiny CCW tilt..?

I lived in LA for 2-3 years so this area was were I visited quite often, yet in the pre-digital times unfortunately. Pity as this was the time in my life when I has the best photo opportunities.
I remember this area we had some friends there.
Beautiful capture with amazing sky pleasantly touched with charming clouds far in the distance. Very attractive sky color as well.
