Photographer's Note
This summer I went from LA, around the Grand Canyon, past Las Vegas, through Yosemite, via the coast to San Fran. What a journey!! Almost too many impressions in 3 weeks time.
This is taken on one the last days of the holiday actually, but it was one of the (city)highlights and the bridge symbolyses the States for me. We went over it by mountainbike, as many tourists do. it's a great cycle from the pier to San Saulito, a lovely village on the other side of the bridge.
This photo was taken art the second pilar. It almost seems I'm hanging of the bridge to make it, but don't worry, I was still on my bike (with a bit of fear of hights! For the first time in my life!).
Some facts about the bridge;
The Golden Gate Bridge is a suspension bridge spanning the Golden Gate from the opening into the San Francisco Bay to the Pacific Ocean. It connects the city of San Francisco on the northern tip of the San Francisco Peninsula to Marin County as part of US Highway 101 and State Route 1.
The Golden Gate Bridge had the longest suspension bridge span in the world when it was completed in 1937 and has become an internationally recognized symbol of San Francisco and the United States. In the 70 years since completion, the span length has been surpassed by seven other bridges. It still has the second longest suspension bridge main span in the United States, after the Verrazano-Narrows Bridge in New York City.
Longest span 4,200 feet (1,280 m)[1]
Total length 8,981 feet (2,737 m)
Width 90 feet (27 m)
Height 746 feet (227 m)

Hi Femke,
your photo of Golden Gate Bridge is very unusual and I have to say that your POV is excellent. (I didn´t try to make photos on a bike :). I like contrast between colours and mist in the water. I was thinking about B/W but coloured contrast is better! Bravo!

Good use of the strong lines of the bridge and their converging perspective to draw the eye towards the tower rising out of the mist. Without the mist the shot wouldn't have worked so well.
It probably wasn't possible without risking a long fall into the water below, but if you could have changed position so that the tower wasn't hidden behind the suspension cables I think the shot would have been even more succesful.
Good work Femke.
Cheers,
Ben

Hello Femke! It isn't easy to take an original photo of places which have been photographed from every angle. And however, you have done it! Great POV! I love the closeness of the bridge and the fog making it vanish. It would deserve 12 out of 10 if the ship was a few meters more to the left.
Great work!
TFS and kind regards,

Hello,
This is an unusual and fantastic way to show us this so famous Golden Gate!
The way it get lost in the fog is beautifull, sharpness and frame are really well done. There is a really nice graphism with all that vertical lines. People give a human dimension to it. Fantastic!
TFS,
Claude.

Interesting Point ow view on the brigge who seems coming out of the fog.

Cheers.
