Trail Ridge Pastoral

Trail Ridge Road, Rocky Mountain National Park.

Trail Ridge Road is one of the main attractions of Rocky Mountain National Park. It is a stunning drive 8 miles of the road are above 11,000 feet (3,353 meters) in elevation. This image was taken just as we were beginning our descent into the Western half of the Park. I thought these two North American Elk (or Wapiti) bulls lounging in the alpine tranquility really peaceful .. I did several zoomed in shots as well but in those images I missed the vastness of this alpine setting.

Check out the theme on the left for the couple other Trail Ridge images I have posted to give this more a sense of place.
