Photographer's Note
Passed by "Sol Duc Falls" on my way up to Deer Lake which is part of the Olympic Park Seven Lakes Basin. I well recommend this trek up to the lake though make sure that the weather is good and that the path is reasonably clear of debris and snow. I climbed it after the big winter storm of 2006/2007 and I did find myself scrambling quite a bit over huge fallen trees and the remnants of avalanched snow.
GETTING THERE
-------------
From Port Angeles, drive west 27 miles on U.S. Highway 101, turn south on Sol Duc Hot Springs Road (also known as the Sol Duc River Road). The Sol Duc Ranger Station is about 12 miles from U.S. 101. Sol Duc Campground is an Olympic National Park campground, not to be confused with an RV campground operated by the resort. The end of the road is just under 14 miles, elevation 2,000 feet.
TRAIL DATA:
-----------
Sol Duc Falls is less than two miles round trip, no appreciable gain. Canyon Lake (to Deer Lake), is around eight miles round trip with 1,500 feet elevation gain. Salmon Cascades is a half-mile, no elevation gain. The Ancient Forest Grove is a half-mile, minimal elevation gain. For information on road and trail conditions, call Olympic National Park Wilderness Information Center at 360-452-0300, or Storm King Ranger Station at Lake Crescent, 360-928-3380.

Very nice low point of view on the top part of this little fall, with an excellent perpective toward the forest.
All the best,
Emmanuel

Hi David,
The volume of water and the fallen tree both attest to the storm. I particularly like the sunlight and shadow at the top of the fall.
Wishing you and your family health, love & joy, Pat

Happy New Year David -
There are some technical compromises in this image that I am sure you are aware of so I will not address those. I like the composition with the view above the fall, the diagonal log across the fall, and a view to the bottom. Exposure is almost there render the falls perfect. When you really need a cloudy in Washington and it wan not available - bummer!
Thank you for sharing.

Hi David,
Excellent slow exposure capture of this raging narrow falls cascading down the moss covered chasm as its flow is split by the big rock and outlined by the fallen tree. Very clear colors and excellent sharpness to this fine woodland image.
A Very Happy, Healthy, Peaceful New Year to You and Your Family.
Regards, Tom

well done, nice motion in the water. i have been to this place, i'm sure you were in a slippery position nearly under the bridge to capture this and capture it at a good angle.
