A Country View, a photo from California, West

I live in the town of Petaluma, California which is about 35 minutes north of San Francisco in the Sonoma wine country. One thing Petaluma gets is a lot of fog and I've learned over the years that fog can indeed be your friend when it comes to images.
There is a view point about 15 minutes from where I live that is high enough in elevation to get above the fog under the right conditions. This image was shot on such a morning. I took several images of the hills and fog before the sun rose but once it did those images were forgotten as the early morning light on the various hills really enhanced the scene. The interplay between sun, fog, and terrain really spoke to me. The view for the people who live in this house isn't too bad either.

Hello Mike!

This is gorgeous. The fog, the light, the softness, the golden and the blue, it's like straight out of a saga. The little group of houses gives the scenery proportions but look surreal at the same time. Simply stunning!

Fantastic scenery. I like the low lying mist swirling in the valleys with the tree tops breaking through. Lovely warm light on the foreground hill and on the group of buildings in the middle distance. Very good depth of field which ensures great clarity.

I love California!! I also live in California not too far from you. This looks like the back road leading to Point Reyes Station. Beautiful country with awesome chances to shot wonderful photos just like this. Love the detail to light and color. The POV is to die for!! TFS.

Dang Mike, this is absolutely gorgeous. I hadn't seen your gallery before, but you have some very fine images. Totally reminds me of Tuscany. I was just there a few weeks ago, and I got this exact same beautiful fog at sunrise. Something about wine country and fog being good for grapes, I suppose.

Love the light, but particularly love those trees sticking out of the fog. They give the image a lot of variety and texture.
