Photographer's Note
In the heart of Austin, there are ruins... the concrete remnants of a hillside apartment building that was demolished due to foundation issues. The owners will redevelop the lot some day, but until then, they have allowed graffiti artists to decorate hundreds of square meters of blank walls! See this article for more information.
It was my great pleasure and honor to be accompanied this Sunday morning by TrekEarth member Noel Byrne, visiting from Dublin! There is a shot of him (with his camera to his eye) as a WS!

Howdy Russ,
Interesting blend of colorful graffiti artist and the numerous paint jobs, then the misty background of Austin, including your Capitol building.
And little boring sky.
Well done,
Cheers,

Hello Russ,
This is a fresh take on urban art. Usually the photo focuses on the graffiti or mural, but I like that you focused on the artists. It seems to be a bit chilly, but one of them is only wearing a t-shirt. I like the distant view of the city, too. By the way, thanks for your recent critiques and workshop of my photos. :-)

Hello Russ, What a splendid idea to allow the people to paint on the ruins - much better than to write on the fresh renovated buildings. And the graffiti are also on the floor.
I was wondering that Noel doesn't appear here lately - and he went to Texas, What a surprise. I would like to see this Workshop with him. I am crazy about meetings, as maybe you know.
Excellent picture.

Hello Russ,
No space seems to be left untouched when these graffiti artists get going. We don't actually see the paintings in great detail, but in a picture like this the activity is more important, as well as the background information that you provided.
Best regards,
Gert

Los Angeles designated a freeway wall for graffiti artists and they do a very good job. The art works are amazingly good. Showing off the good side of Austin? I think it's nice to show both sides of a city to visitors. Nice capture with good details. Well done, tfs.

Hi Russ,
You took this from a great angle, the shots I took were further back and I got none of the effect of the man spraying, you can only see his back, really nicely done. It's nice that the colors all across the scene, the ground and walls are so rich too, it balances the grey sky well. The skyline of the city stands out nicely in the grey. The bystanders all look like they are breakdancing :)
Thanks again for your generosity and your time, it was a real pleasure to meet you both and get to experience some of the real city. Really appciated, and thanks for the workshop. I showed it to somebody in work today and they said I look like a russian spy taking covert pics, haha.
Cheers again.
Noel

Hey Russ,
Whoa, who is that joker your featuring in the WS pic? lol Glad you had the chance to meet our Irish friend, I can only assume you had a great time, yeah? :)
A fun photo here with all kinds of color, despite the grey day overhead. Always a treat to see people in action, going about their business...sanctioned or otherwise. No matter, this is a nice slice of daily life. Hope all is going well. Take it easy.
Warmest and friendly wishes from the desert,

A nice way to take advantage of the empty walls or street art.
I really like graffiti.
Beautiful view of the artists, with fine blurred urban landscape in the background.
Beautiful colors
