The Green, green leaves..., a photo from Virginia, South

Photographer's Note

Working at a desk in my study I looked up in the direction of the living room. And there I saw sunlight streaming in from a window, selectively illuminating a few leaves on the potted Peace Lily. (It is a busy and somewhat confusing scene, with an artificial plant with yellow silk leaves rising from a pot sitting on the stack of books, but behind the synthetic plant is the real, potted plant sitting on the floor, recently watered.) On the distant wall hangs an oil painting depicting the 17th-century ship Mayflower that I had created while I was an undergraduate studying physics. Just to the right of the painting, and partly obscured by dried leaves from an artificial plant, sits the bronze equestrian statue, "Bronco Buster," a work by the American sculptor Frederick Remington. As a young painter, if I had painted this scene as a still life, I would have been accused of unreasonable exaggeration of the iridescent green leaves. Alas, this is a photograph with my iPhone 6 Plus. In painting, as in photography, light is of crucial importance. For this photo. My role was just to pick up my phone and capture the fleeting moment.

Great idea to focus on only leaves getting lights.

Vous avez raison sur toute la ligne. Le site connaît de longs moment de problèmes techniques. Il faut s'en accommoder (avons nous le choix d'ailleurs) !
Quant à la prise de vue, pour une photo réalisée à partir d'un smartphone, le résultat est très concluant. Un moment pris sur le vif et très bien rendu.

Hello Bulent,

I think it has been interesting to have a glimpse inside your study. We are all curious to learn more about the people with whom we communicate!

Having said that, I do like the combination of features that are assemble, here. I began immediately, with the glowing leaf on the table. Then, there was a very natural, diagonal progression across the frame, via the plants, to the sunlight from the venetian blinds.
