San Francisco Mural
Mural Geary Street corner Larkin Street, San Francisco
At first sight, it seems that the artist is resting after finishing this mural. The bottles with the used paint stand a little further beside the wall. But if you look closer you can see that the bottles are old household bottles and the resting man does not seem to be really tired of painting the mural.
You can see this better on the two workshop photos.
Main picture (Large scalable version)
Workshop 1: The Paint?
Workshop 2: The Painter?
Further investigation shows that the mural exists already for a long time and is on the side facade of the restaurant “House of Thai”
When we walked along it was too early to have diner, but today I discovered they have a nice website.

Hi Rob,
You have captured well the homeless person resting near the mural. The point of view is showing the details of the mural. It is clear and sharp. Have a nice day.

Hello Rob,
I just put this photo into the group theme, "Compelling Backdrops." I know San Francisco quite well and I am happy to see that it has continued to be dynamic, with new talent rolling in daily.
Warm regards,

Wonderfully painted mural, strong warm tones and stand out marvelously, Rob.
The local person on the pavement gave it a mundane scale and a reminder of difficult era for some people out there.
Have a nice new day,
Ike

Bonjour, cher Rob,
La fresque murale est superbe. L'homme assis possède un regard peu amène vers le photographe !
Cette idée d'utiliser les murs pour réaliser des fresques est très originale, cela permet de faire connaître l'artiste et l'art à la population.
Amitiés.

Hello Rob,
Interesting mural and surprising to see someone sitting at the bottom of it. Is it homelles person or maybe the artist after work? Excellent composition and colours.

Hi Rob,
I like the Leo text in the top left corner letting us know this is lion and not a Chinese Dragon. They do tend to look similar to an untrained eye. The man at bottom right animates the scene and provides scale. Tfs!

Hello Rob,
I wonder if Leo is a reference to the name of the artist or the title of the composition. Either way, very impressive piece of artwork and beautifully captured by you. The gentleman and his belongings supply some additional 'local colour'.

Hallo Rob,
Chinatown werd al aangekondigd op deze kleurrijke muurschildering. Schijn bedriegt met deze flessen links en de man rechts, zoals zo vaak zijn het de details die laten zien hoe het werkelijk zit.

Hello Rob,
This is a particularly attractive mural, the sort of decoration that mimics heraldry and the colours are particularly rich.
It seems a curious array of bottles, seeming to be cleaning products and I cannot imagine so much variety was necessary to clean the wall first! If the man is sleeping rough, as all the baggage might suggest, why would cleaning products be in his possession! This is a mystery ... did you take any more wider shots which might give more clues?
Have a lovely day,
Bev :-)

Hello Rob,
Somehow I got an impression of an Asian restaurant already from the thumbnail, but maybe it is entirely a coincidence. It is an impressive painting, and although the man and the bottles don't seem to have any connection with the mural they fit the picture well and add a flavor to the taste of Thai food.
Kind regards,
Gert

Bonjour Rob,
On voit beaucoup de ce genre de scènes dans nos villes ces jours-ci. Au moins, il fait beau à San Francisco et les sans abris n'ont pas à vivre la neige et le froid. Celui-ci a un très beau mur de chambre.
Amicalement

Hi Rob,not easy to know if the man is the artist or just a homeless, but i thinks that the second solution is right for me. 3 beautiful pics about these graffitis,a great fest of colors in 3 top quality pics,i like it! Have a nice evening and thanks,Luciano

Hello Rob,
This is an urban sight that is all too common: someone homeless against the backdrop of nice buildings or colorful art. This gentleman seems to have noticed you taking a photo. I feel like he's looking right at me as I view it. :-) The mural itself is very nice, and I can see the Asian motif. I wonder why there are so many empty bottles of laundry detergent and fabric softener, as opposed to other types of products...

Mural realmente bonito! A pintura possui cores bonitas e contrastantes, gostei muito do dourado. Enquadramento, nitidez e luz também muito bons.
Bom trabalho!
