Photographer's Note

One of the exhibits of Gerald R. Ford Presidential Museum is dedicated to the 1976 presidential race between Ford and Carter. My impression is that both sides used humor quite frequently. It appears Ford's pardoning of Nixon was made an issue for Carter's campaign. The title of this photo was on one of the campaign buttons. The button is displayed right on top of a Pat Oliphant political cartoon relating to the same issue.

From my memory Nixon didn't deserve to be pardoned so this makes an interesting cartoon comment. Well taken.

Hello Murat,
Pardoning the arch-crook Nixon was not Ford's greatest moment. Shame on him. But it's a good cartoon. Considering the WS it was important to know in which order to use the cutlery.

Hello Murat,

There was political turmoil when this happened but I do love to see political satire! The cartoon is excellent, there is no doubting the politician.

It would appear that a dinner at the White House would have been a very stately, sumptuous affair!

Hi Murat,it is very nice to have also some memories of the electoral battle between Ford and Carter, I was a child and obviously I was not very interested in these events, so still an interesting job ... and then I would have liked to have lunch in such an elegant table as the one you show us in the WS.
