Photographer's Note
The Cactus Garden is located at South Promontory of Getty Center. The introduction to this area in Getty Center's brochure reads:
"The South Promontory recalls the city's pre-urban state of being by re-creating a desert lanscape filled with golden barrel and column cacti, euphorbia, agave, opuntia, and ice plant."
This place overview Los Angeles's west side. A closer view of the cactus garden is provided in WS.

I like the wall on the righ it is so bold and leads the eye to the gardens. The curvy area has also great textures and the sky is so good in a hazy sort of way.
the freeway in the distance brings another interesting point.
the work shop is great.

Hi Wes
I immediatly remembered the shot of Livia of this place, must be indeed a very inspirational spot and you tried to find this sharper lower angle to get this guiding wall to emphace the perspective towards this circle and the misty landscape.
Beautifull place and view indeed.

hi wes, quite interesting how the wall imitates a medieval fortress, and is confronted by presence of the path, definitely looking modern;
very nice picture;

Really a fine place, and a good pic. You can see also mine: http://www.trekearth.com/gallery/North_America/United_States/photo120024.htm, we could manage a theme about Getty Museum garden. It is gorgeus, and I have some other photos.
Smileys later.

Hi Wes,
The cactus garden here looks nice to me. I like the composition of this picture with the wall and garden on the right hand side and the wide view of the city on the left. Very nicely captured, well done!

Incredible ... this place looks more like a fort or something ... I wish the sky was clearer though ... but I guess this is what we will have to live with

feels good to be back and looking at your pictures. An excellent POV you got here with the railing and the circle perfectly framed at the center.
Good shot.

Good series you are running on the Getty Center, Wes, this is another nice entry. Nice how the diagonals are converging towards the cactus garden and support a good feeling of perspective. The haze-engulfed view towards the city makes a good background. The WS is nice too and shows that the cactus garden definitely holds the potential for some graphical close-ups.

A Cactus Garden? Never hear about that, but it sounds intresting. Thanks also for the extra view in the ws! Maybe I like the version better, caus the castus plants and also the skyline of the city are more visible, but this looks also very nice, the lighter buildings give some good contrasts in the darker area.
Thanks for sharing this intresting pic!

Hi Wes. Wow that's quite the view from up here. You depth seems to go on for infinity. I also like the pov with which you captured the building. You made good use of a pleasant light as well. I think I might like the WS even more! Beautiful shot Mr. USC!

Hi Wes.
What a diverse package of shots you are presenting us of this wonderful place! This scene almost appears shot on a different day than the shot I rated yesterday. I really like the angles and lines in this scene. This makes a good study in use of lines and curves throughout the main foreground and mid-frame, with the powerful highway line to the left taking the eye neatly into the background cityscape. Very effectively done. This is good work, Wes.
