Times Square

After the rain was gone, the fun began. I shoot around Times Square for hours, between milk shakes and roasted peanuts... Even if it was late when I finally arrived at the hotel, my eyes were still blinking from an overdose of neons light...

Encore un titre bien trouvé cher cousin pour cette image du bled qui m'a vu naître. Le tilt, les lumières, les couleurs et ce taxi qui foncedevant ton objectif transmettent parfaitement l'ambiance de Times Square. J'aime aussi le détail du feu vert cadré dans l'angle en haut qui autrement aurait été bien vide.

Voila une belle image dynamique ou je trouve particulierement interessant que le taxi s'accorde avec "fast" et la dimension nocturne avec "young", la vitesse lente est bien vue et le tilt laisse penser que la bud meme si c'est de la flotte apres une douzaine c'est quand meme pas si anodin que ca... en plus tu as un vrai regime de celibataire qui fait pas attention a ce qu'il mange, on ne ne nourrit pas que de milkshakes et de peanuts, sinon tu vas bientot ressembler a tes voisins du sud de la frontiere !

Tu es sûr que tu ne t'es pas fait renversé par un taxi ici comme tu es si près du sol...
Excellent timing et le cadrage est top avec les lignes sur la route, le feu vert et les enseignes bien placés grâce à ton tilt.

Hi Andre,
This is exactly how i would do it when visiting NY, strallong day and night in search of interesting light and compositions. I have never been there, but this is for sure one of the most photogenic places when it comes to city photography.
Your tilt and the slight amount of movement worked perfectly in combination with that large sign "Fast".......so fast it must be.
That large white sign in the middle is a bit over-exposed, but that can be corrected in a multi-exposure setting.
A very nice and dynamic picture...

I see we both like blurry shots of New York Taxis!
This is great Andre, really dynamic, although if anything I think I'd prefer even more blur, especially in the wheels.
I like how you have the taxi coming in from the corner, and the fact that not all of the vehicle is included adds to the impression of power and movement - as if it's bursting into the frame.
The tilted framing works well, and the billboard in the background is the icing on the cake.

I read young, fast and Reuters :-)
A very dynamic scene, in which the low light ambience is pretty well managed with the exposure.
I think you had caught pretty well the essence of that part of NY, with the neons presence everywhere you look, the cab and its movement.

Bonjour, André. Ton image nous donne une bonne idée de la vie trépidante qui doit animer Times Square. Tout d'abord, ce taxi qui entre littéralement dans la photo. La vitesse relativement lente permet de suggérer le mouvement. Ensuite, il y a toutes ces enseignes lumineuses qui colorent l'image. Le tilt donne un peu le vertige en nous faisant partir du plancher des vaches jusqu'au sommet de la tour à l'arrière-plan. Alors, pour moi, la binette sera comme le feu: bien verte.

This is great photo Andre. No doubt about it. It really catches the feel and life of Times Square. With the neon signs, tilted composition and motion of the taxi, it really shows a sense of the 24 hour "bustle" of this part of NY.

Great color and composition. The one thing I think, in my opinion, would make the photo better is more neon in the background. I think the photo leads into too much "darkness" as it is here. I do know is this easier said than done in a place like this though. The composition as it stands is saved by the green light on the left, which is a definite "plus" for the photo, especially with the moving taxi. Plus, I wouldn't be able to get a shot like this - not even close - so I'll stop complaining.

I am not the only TE visitor of Times Square, I never miss an occasion to go there when in New York.But such pictures are always welcome for me because you show us quite different angles, and with some tilt it can really become a picture will full impact.

Le tilt renforce encore cette impression.
La touche finale est donne par la prise de vue nocturne avec tous ces éclairages.

Andre, I've gotta give you all the credit in the world for putting these elements together like you did. I imagine that "fast" sign changes too, not to mention timing the cab with it as you did. I'd come back and double up on my critique if I could, just to give you more credit for the clever title and the fact that you got a good Times Sq pic, while mine all were total garbage. Nice one.

So definitely your style. Fast moving city scene with technical excellentce and artistic eye. Lights, colours, blur, all work well. Maybe the 'Fast' billboard is a bit too dominating to my taste.

Hi Andre,
I tried to capture an action shot with a moving taxi in the Big Apple but none of them were nearly as good as yours. You are one of the handful of photographers who do such a great job of tilting the camera which creates a greater sense of drama. Those cabbies are a grumpy bunch and I would be too if I had to do this for a living in NYC. Superb image with plenty of action and excitement!
