From my Joshua Tree NP collection. This shot for me seems to show the very animated forms that the vegetation takes on here. As in this shot it looks to me as if the joshua tree in the right background is looking for the yucca plant, hidden behind the rock. Sort of like characters out of the old west.

I like your composition and color combination of blue and yellow with green. yes looks animated :)

Hi Mike,
simple and very effective is the way I'd label this composition. I like your chosen POV, there's great depth of field and definitely a strong figurative relationship between the Joshua tree in the background and the yucca up front. Colors, sharpness and contrast absolutely spot on.
Excellent desert shot.
