Photographer's Note
The tiny settlement of Nindigully sits on the banks of the Moonie River south of St George in SW Queensland. It is just off the Carnarvon Highway via a red dirt road (mud the day I was there). The pub claims to be Queensland's oldest pub "in its original condition and location". The license was granted in 1864 and before that the buidlings was shearers accommodation for Nindigully station. It is a classic bush pub.
The boom time for Nindigully was in the early 20th century when the population reached 50 in 15 houses. These days there are just the pub, 2 houses and 6 people. Camping beside the river is free and the pub provides free showers and toilets, presumably in return for buying a few beers.
