Photographer's Note

Tasmania has some of the best hikes in Australia and the "Overland" hike is possibly the best of them all. The hike is typically done over 6 days, although some people take extra days to do additional side tracks, while others like to power-walk it for excercise sake and take less days to complete the hike. In season (1 November to 30 April) the walk starts at Cradle Mountain and ends at Lake St. Clair. The walk is at least 62km, typically reaching over 80km when you include the most common side trecks and mountain climbs. Upon reaching Lake St. Clair, there is an option to either walk the length of the lake or take a ferry to reach the other side, where the hike officially ends.

This photo taken from the ferry around 10am. After 7 days of walking over some tough terrain, we opted to take the ferry across this very peaceful and beautiful lake.
