Photographer's Note
Kangaroo Island was once a very isolated place. Because of the accessability no one never visited the island yet lived around it because of it's very dense nature. There are times still you feel as if you literally the only person on earth there. it's quite exhillerating to experince that.
But when times were tough and people did not have the oppertunity to stock up at Coles before hand it was a pretty harsh place. The island is very streached out so it's not like there was much oppertunity for social interaction.
This lighthouse lays on the southern side near Remarkable rocks. This is maybe the most harsh of the regions when it comes to extreems. It gets the worst of the gusts and the wind and hardely ever sunshine. So quite literally a very dismal area.
I took this photo because I wanted to be reminded that there are more isolating situations then the menial ones I think of myself. It was a sad life there and this is an ode to the people who have to lived there. And may this photo of appreciation for the history be appreciated.
Thank you
Andrew

Hi Andrew,
I like the panoramic feeling and I think the b&w was the best choice for this photo and to reflect your feelings about the place (nice note by the way).
I also like that the lighthouse is backed by the whitest clouds in the photo, improving the contrast of that area.
The only thing that's bothering me is the underexposed foreground, specially because it's easy to correct (I did a litle WS to show what I mean).
By the way, I've also been at Remarkable Rocks and I was also amazed with the harshness of the place... makes one feel tiny...

Hi Andrew, Great shot and a suitable title to go with it. I like the WS Rui did, but think that the photo becomes less lonely with the foreground alive again. cheers, Steve

Hi Andrew,
I like your compo here, the earth descending to the left, and the lighthouse standing up at middle, between the earth and the sky, resisting the time and the weather, with this cottony sky. The lighst are very well. Only I'm not sure about the B&W option. Surely, the color in the sky would add many interest. It's matter of taste, not of quality, that's very good. Thanks,
Angel.
