Photographer's Note
Carnarvon National Park (in the inland of central Queensland) is a spectacular area of rugged country with deep, narrow gorges and several important Aboriginal art sites. Although this photo doesn't suggest it (although the clouds were starting to gather) we got caught by a big dump of rain on our first night there and were trapped there for a few days until the roads were passable again - and as a result we didn't get to walk very far up the gorge because of a flooded creek.
On the first evening we did a short along a track through tall palm trees with occasional glimpses up to the high cliffs that line the gorge.
Scanned from a negative on what was my last trip with a film camera.

Hello Ian,
It is the Lost World, in reference to Arthur Conan Doyle. The landscape is as well beautiful as extraordinary. The composition is magnificent. The photo is excellent. Bravo.
Have a nice day
