Photographer's Note

There was a large colony of fruit bats which roosted in Melbourne's Botanic gardens. So numerous were they that they were damaging non-native trees in the park and causing a bit of a smell. After a number of attempts to relocate them they finally moved to Yarra bend park, itself in an intercity area. There are many thousands of them there now. Here are a few of them hanging in a tree with the moon appearing in the sky behind them
