They say in nature there are no straight lines. I think this is correct because even when someone has used straight timber the result is far from straight.
This boardwalk was constructed to protect the delicate bog plants from hiker’s boots while still allowing the hikers to experience them and is part of the “round the mountain” walk of Mount Ruapehu. It might not look very boggy but one step off the boardwalk would see you up to your knees in mud. (Not recommended)
I took this photo on my way to the waterfall in my last post.
