Photographer's Note
Million of visitors travelled to Milford Sound every year. I would suppose vast majority of them are at the minimum attracted initially by sunny, blue-sky, clear defined mountain line, calm water from photos taken, post-cards and etc. So do i :-)
On the other hand i also understand that with a mean annual rainfall of 6,813 mm (268 in) on 182 days a year, i have 50-50 chances of getting either what i described earlier on or expect the opposite.
From photographic point of view, definitely sunny, clear and blue-sky Milford Sound would be more appealing as has been proven that at least 75% of the images posted in google search depicts that.
At 630am in Te Anau, the sky had basically tells me it was gonna be extremely wet day ahead. After a heavy breakfast, we set off from Te Anau and turned into Milford Sound Hwy which is 120km from Milford Sound.
About a few km after, we stopped. As i got out of the car and looked through the viewfinder, though it was really gloomy, i still took this shot
A combination of partial snow-capped mountain, misty, cloudy, grass land and rain rippled on river.
It looked pretty dark but exactly portrayed what i experienced and see as i did not even adjust the brightness.
I will post more on my rainy and wet Milford Sound
