Photographer's Note

The Intercity buses in New Zealand are mainly for tourists. Probably not many locals use them especially on the South Island where the population is scarce.
very often the driver explained what we see behind the windows, there were also some longer stops in the interesting places, enough to make pictures or to have lunch.

Wanaka /ˈwɒnəkə/ (Māori: Wānaka) is a popular ski and summer resort town in the Otago region of the South Island of New Zealand. At the southern end of Lake Wanaka, it is at the start of the Clutha River and is the gateway to Mount Aspiring National Park.
With its lake and mountain views, Wanaka has become a popular tourist resort, considered less commercialized than Queenstown.

Wanaka boasts a growing number of restaurants, cafes and a diverse nightlife. Other attractions in the town include Puzzling World and the Paradiso Cinema. Puzzling World contains a maze, optical illusions and a leaning clock tower.

Lake Wanaka is located in the Otago region of New Zealand, at an altitude of 300 metres. Covering an area of 192 km2 it is New Zealand's fourth largest lake, estimated to be more than 300 m deep. Its name is Māori, a corruption of Oanaka ('The place of Anaka', a local tribal chief).
