Photographer's Note

This shot was taken from my window seat as we flew back from Christchurch.

The mountain in the foreground, of course, is New Zealand's highest (Aoraki-Mt Cook), and is part of a long chain of mountains forming the north-south spine of the island.

It was amazing to see how the ranges can suddenly stop the weather rushing in from the west, and why the weather can be miserable on one side and beautiful on the other!
